Drawing development in children

If you google the title of this post, you can find some really interesting articles about the predictable stages that children go through when drawing.   A month or so ago I noticed that Corinne's cubby at school was filled with stacks of small pieces of paper, each with a single circle drawn in the middle.  I didn't really get it.  Earlier this week, I picked up the picture below.  I couldn't really believe that she had gone from drawing circles to this!  I asked her to tell me about her picture, and she specifically pointed out the ears (first small lines coming out of the head), the arms (second lines coming out of the head), legs, and toes (at the ends of the legs).  Apparently the circle-to-recognizable-figure transition is pretty consistant among children.  So, so, interesting!
Corinne drew this at preschool (though my phone won't rotate it the right way)
