I am in Denver! When the opportunity presented itself to attend the National TESOL (teaching english to speakers of other languages) Conference for MU, I must say I jumped at the chance (after conversing with the hubby, of course:). I am staying at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in the heart of the city...and as badly as I wanted to post a picture of the amazing accommodations, it's not letting me for some reason. Anyway, you should check out the pics to really get a feeling. King size bed, 20th floor with a view of the mountains, flat screen T.V, fitness center. Beautiful, really.
But, what I have enjoyed most so far of my mini-retreat is the quiet time I have had for myself. I have actually started my book club book, had dinner at a nice restaurant by myself while perusing the conference program, and have enjoyed the peaceful silence of the rhythmic click-clacking on my computer as I write this. It's funny; I am slightly envious of those in the business world who find themselves jet-setting all over the country and world for important business meetings and whatnot. As a teacher, rarely are such trips necessitated. So, when I get a chance to go somewhere outside of my little columbia home, I feel like I need to go. To see other places, to meet other people, and to take time for myself. In the throws of adulthood and motherhood, such things are not often a priority, but they are important to me yet.

I've had quite a similar experience this week, except not for a conference and several hundred miles southwest of you in FL.
Sounds nice! And don't worry...the first year when the firm was trying to show off to Jason, he got to go all over the US, have dinners on the beach in Malibu, etc, etc...but now that they've got him. It's back and forth to South Dakota where his team has pretty much become regulars at the hoosier "night clubs" and local steak houses. LOL!
