So we finally broke down and started feeding Corinne solids. I am not sure what my hesitation was; for some reason the "magic" 6 month number was staring me down as Corinne began waking during the night and grabbing at our food and utensils. I should have taken these things as signs!! Anyway, 3 weeks after that ordeal, we began with rice cereal. Now, I did a lot of research on the nutritive value of cereal (pretty much zilch), so we did that for just 4 days, then moved right to sweet potato. I am still putting a bit of cereal mixed in with her food (for iron purposes), but I am noticing a huge difference with the sweet potato. First of all, she is sleeping through the night again- Yea for mom! Secondly, she actually likes the sweet potato, as in, opening mouth as I feed her, grabbing the spoon and feeding herself, and making (what seems to be) contentedness noises in between swallows. Score! Of course the high chair helps; the Bumbo was not a sufficient eating chair! Anyway, she got it all over herself, and the chair, and me, but I think that is part of the experience. Overall, I would say it was a success!
